Reduce Your Consumption:
1) Turn down your thermostat-
-If you turn your thermostat down just one degree it can reduce your energy consumption by over 5% and you won't feel the difference in temperature in your house!
-When you turn down your thermostat this is relating to conduction.
-The mercury in the thermostat is a liquid metal and it conducts electricity and flows like water.
2) Decrease the hot water temperature-
-Your hot water shouldn't have to be higher than 60 degrees Celcius.
-Give your boiler regular checkups!
-When you decrease your water temperature this is relating to conduction.
-A hot water heater operates by immersing a heating element in water and allowing conduction to heat the water to a desired temperature.
3) Wash economically-
-Only wash your clothes when you have a full load!
-Also, taking a shower instead of a bath uses 50% less energy!
-Washing your clothes relates to convection, because it is occurring through a liquid.
4) Reuse water-
-If your faucet leaks, put a container under it to catch the leaking water so you can reuse it, or, while your waiting for the water to heat up you could also put a container under it to catch the water and use it for something else!
-Reusing water is another relation to convection. Water is a fluid, and convection is the transferring of thermal energy through a fluid.
